Fall + Winter CSA

Community Supported Agriculture - a subscription program for your belly :)

Fall + Winter CSA 2024

Roast squash, crisp winter greens, fresh gouda, beets with balsamic and potatoes for days. All this and more, from local farmers, delivered weekly to your neighbourhood. Welcome to Sweet Earth Farms’ Fall + Winter CSA.

We are so proud to partner with some fine farmers and bakers to bring you a box of the freshest food every week through the height of fall and into the winter season.

As always, good food for good people, grown in good dirt :)

THE FOOD

We’re planting a wide mix of fall + winter produce, and if all goes according to plan we’ll be harvesting it too, haha. We’ll be growing potatoes of a few colours, plenty of winter squash, spinach, beets, carrots, broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower, just to name a few. Aphids, rabbits and snow storms willing, there will be many, many more. Farmin’ :)

Our weekly deliveries will come in two formats: the Just Veggies box, and the Full Share option. Both include 8-10 varieties of fresh vegetables, a half pound or so of mushrooms bi-weekly and any seasonal add ons we may include. The Full Share also includes a dozen free-range eggs from our hens, plus a loaf of organic sourdough and a wedge of cheese from our partners at Magpie’s Bakery and Creekside Creamery. Both the Just Veggies and the Full Share option can include a weekly farmers sausage add on for the season as well.

Some of our farmer friends will be making guest appearances throughout the season; providing a variety of goods such as wild mushrooms, oats, kiwis, blueberries and hazelnuts. Our goal is to provide most of the fresh food your family needs every week.

THE DETAILS

We will be delivering boxes to community pick-up points and homes on Thursdays from mid September to mid December: 14 weeks of fresh, healthy, local food for you! Please be sure to check out our Summer CSA if you would like to begin the harvest in June!

OUR PARTNERS

We are so happy to partner with the following farmers, ranchers, cheese makers and bakers to complete this project:

Magpie’s Bakery - Baker Nick is on board to supply the tastiest organic multigrain sourdough. Magpie’s is located in downtown Chilliwack.

Creekside Cheese and Creamery - A family creamery, east of Agassiz with the sweetest cows, people and some darn good cheese. Creekside offers farm tours, incredible milk on tap, a wide variety of cheese, beef and eggs, all at their farm store in Agassiz.

Cedar Isle Farm - Cedar Isle is a certified organic, idyllic farm in Agassiz (right along the way to Creekside if you’re out for a drive!) We are so thankful to be leasing land to grow our potato crop from this sweet family! Hannah, of Cedar Isle is growing all of the alliums for our CSA this year, as well as an additional offering per week. We will also, hopefully, be including oats or other grains from Cedar Isle later in the year. Oh and one more thing - we will be including some of Cedar Isle’s certified organic eggs!

Reverent Acres - Located just outside of Salmon Arm, our friends Matt and Kim are raising beautiful water buffalo and sheep on their ranch. Their animals are grass fed, free range, humanely raised and totally free of hormones or antibiotics. We’re so happy to offer their water buffalo farmers sausages!

Myca Farms - Some of the finest mushroom farmers we’ve met. These folks are growing high quality oysters, lions mane, chestnut and more. We love the density and flavour on these mushrooms!

Little River Eggs - When our hens are feeling fussy about it being too hot/cold/wet/windy/sunny/snowy/etc. we turn to the farming family at Little River Eggs to supplement our supply. They feed all organic feed and support healthy, happy hens.

Local Harvest - Fraser Valley farming legends. We are so thankful to be able to include veggies from Local Harvest. Their veggies are grown in healthy, thriving valley soil, with exceptional flavour. Local Harvest will be supplying our weekly greens, as well as handful of other fun additions. We’re looking forward to their ginger and melons again!

And there will always be more along the way :)

A FEW DETAILS

  • Please check out our FAQ page for some quick answers!

  • We’re a small-scale project farm: two farmers, two kids, two or so acres and a great community. We live in the mountains behind Chilliwack, on a second generation farm. We raise chickens, grow veggies, fix things… so many things…

  • Since we live in the mountains, we also farm a bit of valley land. We are grateful to be farming at Cedar Isle Farm in Agassiz and on our aunt and uncle’s property in Aldergrove. Plenty of good dirt for all of our veggie dreams.

  • All produce grown in Agassiz at Cedar Isle Farm is certified organic under BCARA. Produce grown at our home farm will be what we like to call “sensibly grown” - free of pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, with a focus on soil health and flavourful food.

  • We aren’t offering half shares or modifications this season, but we encourage sharing with friends or finding a neighbour who may be interested in splitting a CSA subscription with you!

  • If you have any severe allergies to any of our products, this may not be the right CSA for you, as we can’t promise the bread won’t touch the veggie bags and so on. Please send us a note if you’d like to chat more.

  • We send weekly emails throughout the season, sharing what to look forward to in your box, recipe ideas and updates on farm life. These emails always include an info sheet from our friend and nutritionist, Hayley Samuell.

  • Harvest fluctuates throughout the season, so you may receive slightly less produce in your box near the beginning of the season, and slightly more towards the middle and end of the season.

  • A fun little bonus that happens in the summer is our annual Sweet Earth FARM party!! It’s a good time with plenty of food from all our supplier friends, music by James’ bands, good drinks and lots of good people. All of our CSA customers are invited.

  • Please fill in the form below with your questions or registration information! (And check your junk box for the reply, just in case.)

  • We are currently full for the 2024 season and will open registration for our 2025 season in early summer. Chat then!

A little love from our friends:

“I've signed up for quite a few CSA boxes in my life and none come close to the ones we received from Sweet Earth Farms last fall. Honestly, the quality, quantity and variety of produce and goodies that we received last year was like nothing I have ever seen. Imagine going to a farmer's market, filling a box with the very best produce and unique items you can find. (ie. local honey, oyster mushrooms, ancient grains, local cheeses, etc...). This was the experience we had, week after week. Months later we are still working through the abundance of winter squash and ancient grain products that we received. And the little touches like beautiful floral bouquets and photos from her beautiful farm, the whole experience felt like pure love. This box is hands down the best thing we have ever done to feed our family, and we are so grateful and honoured to have the privilege to reap the delicious bounty of these incredible farmers!!” - Benny.
